How to Join the Frost Student Association?
Welcome to the FSA Elections page! This is your one-stop resource for all the information you need to run for the Board of Directors and make a lasting impact on student life at Fleming College!
About the Elections
Each winter semester, the FSA elects its Board of Directors for the upcoming academic year. There are seven key positions available:

These roles allow you to represent your peers, advocate for their needs, and enhance the overall student experience.
Eligibility Criteria
To run for a position, nominees must:
Be enrolled in a diploma, certificate, or degree program and at least in their second semester of study at Fleming College Frost or Haliburton Campus
Be full-time, activity fee-paying students during their term of office.
Be in good academic standing (minimum GPA of 3.2 for Executives and 2.5 for Directors).
Be bondable.
How to Nominate Yourself
Meet with the Chief Returning Officer (CRO) to ensure you meet eligibility requirements. Visit the FSA offices in Room 269 (above the Auk’s Lodge) for guidance.
Submit the Required Forms: Complete the Nomination Package, which you can pick up from your CRO in the FSA offices.
Collect 50 signatures for Director positions.
Collect 75 signatures for Executive positions (President and Vice President).
Attend the Mandatory All Nominees Meeting: This meeting will take place on February 20th from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM and will cover election procedures, campaign guidelines, and provide the Candidate Information Kit.

Frequently Asked Questions:
1. How much time will I need to commit to fulfill my role if I am elected?
The time commitment for each position is as follows:
Directors: September to April, approximately 10 hours per week.
Executives: May to August, around 35 hours per week; September to April, about 15 hours per week.
2. Is sitting on the FSA Board of Directors a paid role?
Yes, both FSA Directors and Executives receive compensation. The specific wages for each position are outlined in the job description included in the Nomination Package.
3. I have another job. Can I still join the FSA Board of Directors?
Yes. With the understanding that after your studies, your role at the FSA takes priority over any other employment.
4. What are the campaigning rules?
Campaigning starts after the nomination period closes and has specific guidelines, such as promotional guidelines and restrictions and limits on spending. All campaigning rules will be outlined in the Campaign Kit handed out in the All-Nominees meeting on February 20, 2025.
5. How do I run a successful campaign?
Running a successful campaign involves clear messaging, connecting with voters, and actively engaging with your peers. Attend campaign events and be available to answer questions. Focus on what makes you a good fit for the position.
6. How do I organize campaign events?
Campaign events must be approved by the FSA in advance. Be sure to submit any booking requests within the specified time frame and follow all venue and campaign guidelines.
7. Can I run for multiple positions?
No, you can only run for one position at a time.
8. Can I withdraw my candidacy after nomination?
Yes, you can withdraw your candidacy. If you decide to withdraw, inform the Chief Returning Officer in writing and follow the procedures outlined in the rules.
9. What happens if I break the campaign rules?
If you violate the campaign rules, you could face penalties, including disqualification from the election. Common violations include overspending, advertising violations, disparaging remarks or actions directed at other candidates, illegal campaigning tactics, or engaging in disruptive behavior. Familiarize yourself with the rules to avoid issues.
10. How is election fraud prevented?
The FSA has safeguards in place, such as monitoring voting processes, verifying identities, and limiting vote manipulation. If you suspect any fraudulent activity, report it to CROatFSA@flemingcollege.ca as soon as possible, or visit us in the FSA Offices above the Auk’s Lodge.
